Recovered fantasy records, mythic fragments, lost-world accounts, and broken histories from the edges of Simon J. Phillips’s novella worlds.
The Mythic Chronicle is Simon J. Phillips’s fantasy Chronicle branch: a growing archive of mythic records, forgotten legends, ruined cities, damaged scrolls, temple accounts, civic rumours, bardic fragments, buried passages, religious notes, and distorted histories from worlds where the truth is rarely preserved whole.
Each Chronicle begins as something recovered. A record found beneath a city. A priest’s note copied from a failing archive. A rumour carried through lower streets. A fragment of myth written long after the event it tries to explain.
The Chronicle is the myth.
The novella is the truth.

Fantasy Told Through Lost Records, Myths, and Broken Histories
The Mythic Chronicle is not a lore wiki, a direct summary of novella events, or a simple guide to a fantasy world. It is a recovered archive of fragments, rumours, civic records, damaged scrolls, temple notes, bardic retellings, and preserved memories.
Each entry begins inside a trace of something larger. The reader may enter through a sealed passage, a lower-district report, a mark beneath plaster, a clerk’s final account, a ruined chamber, or an old story that no longer agrees with itself.
The Chronicle does not explain the full truth. It circles around it.
Some Chronicles stand alone. Others form longer ten-part cycles connected to Simon’s fantasy novella worlds. Together, they build atmosphere, deepen mystery, and allow the reader to approach the world through myth before reaching the direct story inside the novellas.
The purpose is simple: to make fantasy feel discovered, not explained.

How Each Chronicle Is Read
Each Mythic Chronicle usually opens with a free atmospheric scene, record, or recovered fragment. This gives new readers a clear sense of the world, tone, and mystery before the deeper archive begins.
The continuation may sit inside the paid WordPress archive, where the Chronicle moves further into the record through additional fragments, world notes, marginal accounts, closing reflections, or related novella links.
This structure allows the page to remain open and discoverable while also building a deeper fantasy reading archive for paid readers.
The Chronicle can be read alone, though many entries also form part of wider ten-part cycles connected to Simon’s fantasy novella worlds.
Current Mythic Cycle
The Whispering Foundations
The current Mythic Chronicle cycle is The Whispering Foundations, a ten-part sequence built around buried layers beneath a city, lower-district records, maintenance accounts, rumours, sealed passages, damaged plaster, strange marks, air pressure, rats, structural strain, unexplained deaths, and sounds heard inside stone.
This cycle connects indirectly to the novella Black Feathers in a Brothel, though it does not retell the novella itself. The Chronicle gives the mythic echo. The novella gives the direct story truth.
Each entry can be read as a recovered fragment from a city that has already begun to misunderstand what is happening beneath it.
Optional note for later page updates:
When this cycle changes, this section can be updated manually without rebuilding the whole page. The latest posts at the bottom will continue to update automatically through the category feed.
Connected Novellas
The Mythic Chronicle exists beside Simon’s fantasy novella worlds. It does not replace the novellas or retell them directly. Instead, it creates a mythic outer layer: the rumours, records, distortions, and preserved fragments that gather around the truth.
Where a Chronicle cycle connects to a specific novella series, the related novella will be linked here with cover images, reading links, and a short spoiler-safe note.
For the current cycle, The Whispering Foundations connects to Black Feathers in a Brothel.
The Chronicle is the myth.
The novella is the truth.
